Chinking for Log Homes
Chinking for log homes and log cabins is a product similar to Caulks and Sealants that is used in ‘Chinked’ Style log homes that are purposely built with a space between each course of log work…or any place where the gap to be filled is greater than 1″ in diameter.
This space is filled with a backer rod and then chinking is applied both inside and out for a weather and insect tight seal.
Modern chinking has great adhesion and is elastomeric (it’s got good stretchability), allowing it to expand and contract as the logs, timbers or other construction materials move.
