The Gränsfors Mortise Axe is a specialist axe designed for hewing sills and notches in joints. The axe has a long, narrow head, making it easier to work on large logs. The shape enables you to hew a long way down into the notch, where otherwise you would have to use a chisel. With a little practice, the Mortise Axe makes the job faster and more efficient. The axe is delivered with a sheath.
Each axe head is hand-forged from special Swedish steel which is then honed, tempered, & annealed to the perfect hardness by the experienced Gränsfors Bruk Swedish smiths who stamp their initials on the head, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece you’ll treasure for years to come.
