Description
Froe Mallet
Froe Mallets are made of ‘reject’ professional Hard ‘Rock Maple’ ball bats…usually rejected for being over the weight specs.
Maple is one of the hardest woods in the world, far stronger and harder than ash. Although you’ll eventually wear out the mallet, (after all, you’re smacking the edge of some hard steel with it), it’s possibly one of the best for this use.
Froe Mallet specs…
- Rock Maple is also known as Sugar Maple or Hard Maple
- Approximately 17″ overall length
- Striking face 10″
- Diameter is 2-1/2″
- Weight is approximately 1lb. 14oz.
NOTE: Froe is shown for size comparison. Price is for the mallet only.
NOTE:Â Are you attempting to split some tough and/or knarly hardwoods? Oak? Some are terrible to split and being such a hard wood, thus tougher to split = you’ll possibly trash the mallet before you get your project done. Hard Rock Maple hitting edge of metal thats hitting into another hardwood? Hmm.
Our best guess is that this Mallet will do what it’s intended to do…straight grain, mostly knot free, softer woods…e.g. Cedar, Pine, Spruce, probably Douglas Fir, Locust.
Let us know what does and doesn’t work for you and we’ll post some of it here to update others.
