Adze or Adz
(however you want to spell it)

An edge tool used to cut and shape wood

A carpenter's or cooper's tool, formed with a thin arching
blade set at right angles to the handle. It is used for
chipping or slicing away the surface of wood.

Gransfors Bruks-Hand Adze

8" handle length gives you just enough space for both hands. 2 1/2" wide blade with heavy curve. Comes surprisingly sharp. With protective storage case. As with all Gransfors Bruks tools-this one is top quality. You'll keep this one forever. It's about as good as a tool gets.
Some woodworkers call this a "bowl adze".
