Log Home Store Sample policy
It is very important to try samples of products you are considering for your project before you buy. For example, finishes/stains on your wood can look very different from how it looks on a computer screen.
Samples are a costly item to package and ship. These are generally sent UPS (particularly wet samples e.g. finishes).
Orders of 1-5 samples will be charged a $6 shipping and packaging fee (see exceptions at bottom of page).
The fee will be $1 for each additional sample ordered with the first 5 to defray shipping and packaging. If you decide after testing the first samples that you would like more, this order will be treated like a new sample order and the $6 fee as described above will apply.
To make the most of your sample order, consider ordering samples of all the materials you will need for your project. For example: If you are re-staining your deck, test cleaners, brighteners and stains. For a new log home, you may want samples from several of the categories listed below.
For visible samples, such as finishes, caulking and chinking, pick an out of the way area to perform your test--inside a future closet area, behind future cabinets, and left over logs are all potential test areas.
Don't go overboard with your test area, after all, you wouldn't spend that much time on each small area of your logs, would you?
The key is to test using a procedure as close to that you'll use when applying the finish to the rest of the home. It's okay to use a "throwaway" foam brush for the test, however, don't go over the sample area 10-20 times unless that's what you intend to do on the rest of the project.
