Sikkens SRD 250 blend is formulated for specific areas in California.
SRD 250 is an easy to use, translucent water repellent exterior wood finish for log siding, roofs, and decks.
SRD 250 can be applied as a 1 coat system (matte), or a 3 coat system (satin).
- This one coat system incorporates finely ground transparent iron oxide pigments that result in a rich, natural and uniform coloration of the wood surface, while offering protection from moisture and UV damage.
- As Cetol SRD is easy to use, it's the ideal choice for demanding areas where more frequent maintenance may be necessary.
- One-coat application, water repellent, UV protection.
- Cetol SRD is for application to areas normally troublesome to coat with film-forming products.
- Non film building.
- Has fungicide to help prevent mold growth.
Note: If the surface does not have an even appearance (around knot areas, etc.), a second thin coat may be applied to even out the color.
Maintenance:
- A maintenance coat using Cetol SRD should be applied when visually necessary to help maintain its protective characteristics.
- Before applying the maintenance coat, follow the maintenance preparation procedures.
Usage:
- Siding
- Trim
- Outdoor furniture
- Fences
- Log homes and log siding
- Roof shakes and shingles
- Decks
- Docks
- Composite wood.
Features:
- One coat gives a matt, non-film forming, translucent wood finish...all blends.
- (California "250" blend can also be applied as 3 coats on vertical surfaces to get a satin sheen...24 hours between coats).
Application:
- Garden pump sprayer
- Long-haired natural bristle brush
- Airless sprayer or roller.
- All methods must be back brushed using a good quality long hair natural brush.
- In the case of shakes & shingles, dipping is recommended, then brushing any excess drops until smooth.
Coverage:
- (for rough or old Wood) 100-150 sq. ft./US gallon
- (for smooth or new Wood) 200-300 sq. ft./US gallon.
Additional information on SHAKE & SHINGLE APPLICATION
- High levels of humidity and moisture exist in roof shakes and shingles due to the many end grains and horizontal surfaces involved.
- All end grains must be heavily coated to avoid moisture uptake into the wood.
- Cetol SRD may be sprayed on in the case of roof shingles and shakes.
- Apply enough material to get an even appearance of the coating.
- Brush out any runs immediately to avoid lapmarks and drips.
- For best results, shakes and shingles should be individually dipped.
- To do so, immerse them in Cetol SRD, let the excess drip off or brush out, then lay out to dry for a minimum of 16 hours.
- Once dry, shakes/shingles can be installed.
